Abode Construction was founded over 10 years ago, and like many businesses, they had tried different marketing strategies and used countless marketing agencies, but were simply unable to create a strategy that worked consistently.

At the end of 2019 we proposed a strategy that would act as an organic, long term approach to driving new business. 2 and a half years later, we are still together as part of our long term partnership that is constantly driving tangible results. Here's how we did it...

What was the problem that needed solving?

For a number of years, Abode Construction had been far too reliant on word of mouth and referrals to generate new business. Many businesses take this approach, however it is both risky, and not a smart long term play in growing a business.

After deciding they needed to invest in marketing, to drive new business and grow their revenue, they would constantly run into the same problems after hiring countless agencies and freelancers, time after time:

How did we craft a solution to this problem?

All of the marketing campaigns Abode Construction had previously ran were all paid campaigns. Meaning they would run paid ads on Facebook, Instagram and Google, burning a massive whole in their monthly budget. As you can probably imagine, the decision making process to building a high end custom home is a very long one, with the average time of taking someone from a lead to a client being 6-8 months.

Now, picture paying an expensive marketing agency retainer, plus a huge advertising budget every month, for 8 months straight, before even making a return. This is simply not sustainable for a small business. So we decided the smarter play would be a long term, organic marketing approach.

What was the strategy?

Once we decide that the smart play was a long term organic approach, we started our research. Abode Construction services include Home Renovations, and Custom Home Builds. So we used our suite of software to find out what the search terms people were using on Google, to find service providers like Abode Construction.

We uncovered that there were roughly 2000+ monthly searches in Brisbane for search terms relating to people looking for renovation builders. (This means that each month, roughly 2000 people were searching Google to try and find a builder that could compete their home renovations). We also uncovered that each month roughly 3000+ people were searching for custom home builders in Brisbane, just on Google alone.

So, the strategy was simple. Create a landing page that would show up when people searched for renovation builders in Brisbane, and create a second landing page that would show up when people searched for custom home builders in Brisbane.

This optimisation is called SEO (Search Engine Optimisation), and it includes a massive scope of strategies and tasks, all of which tell Google that Abode Construction's website should show up at the top of the search results when someone searches for the services they offer.

There are over 300 different things that Google's algorithm looks at, when it comes to deciding where to rank a website in the search results. So we had our work cut out for us.

  • Create a landing page for each service that Abode Construction offers
  • Get these pages to rank on Google's search results
  • Optimise these pages to rank higher
  • Continue to work on SEO to continually improve and hold top rankings

What was the process?
